11/11 DP with my lil girl

Daughter had off today so took her down to DP. I let her sleep until 9:30 and we were paddling off Baby beach about 10:30. Hit up the bait barge for some great dines and paddled around the jetti for some halibut fishing. Plenty of action and all raked baits. Finally Briani hooks a good one and quickly pulls up a 24 incher. I had my rod on my lap and as I was messing with her fish. My rod jumped off my lap and I dumped her fish to grab it.

She shook it off and said "it was not that big" wish I would have at least got a picture. Things slowed down and she wanted to go eat so we headed in. I paddled and she released our baits one at a time. Beautiful weather and as fun as it gets for me.

Very cool.

It looks like a great day to me regardless. My 11 year old wants nothing to do with a kayak. It is a shame, but maybe he'll come around.

Sweet Day!
way to go daddy

When I get the pleasure of meeting your daughter
I will try to refrain from bringing up the "lost halibut" story

but I do like that she says a 24" halibut "was not that big"
tells me she wants the bigger fish!
whats next LJ?

She has done fished La Jolla and even Two Harbors with me. As we paddled in I reminded her that she out fished me, that got a big smile. I wish I could go back there manana, very fishy. I knew once the string cheese was gone we did not have much time left.

Looks and sounds like a good time all the way around!

I bet if it were a gaff between you legs, it wouldn't have jumped anywhere

Andy,

I love a good fish story involving a great Dad and his Daughter.

But did you really have to include the part about releasing the bait?
One at a time???

Cool report Andy. I hope my daughter likes to fish. Maddox has been bugging me to take him fishing but his listening skills need work.

I hear you on the string cheese brother...I have to have a bag full of stuff and snacks just in case the fishing is not wide open. In MY case most of the time. Nice report,
