So Im looking to purchase a fishing boat but am doing serious homework first. My previous boat was a 21' bayliner open bow and took it to lakes/rivers but only about 5 times in the ocean.

What do you mean by this? I pack 2 five gallon gas cans and go to the 209, 182, 226, ect. She is a fishing machine! Im guessing gas cans are used for fuel instead of a fuel tank and the numbers are hot spots just off shore??? I prefer a boat capable of going to Catalina or other local islands.

Extra fuel is extended range. Halfway thru the day you pour the fuel from cans into main tank. Rule of thumb on a boat is 1/3 of your fuel to get there, 1/3 to get home and 1/3 in reserve
