Caught the bug

....My first one, anyway.

Launched from Shelter Island and headed for the Zuniga jetty for my first time out with hoop nets. Got started with the first drop just before full dark - got 1 keeper and 1 short in the second net! Unfortunately, that was it. fished up and down the jetty until the moon was high around 11:30 and only got 1 more that was maayyyybeeee legal - so back it went. I did catch a rather nice sized stingray! That was exciting to pull up, but a challenge to get back out of the net.

Seems like some of the other kayak guys had slow nights too...

what a workout!
