SD Bay report....windy

Launched at 9am to time the outgoing tide ride to the jetty, got bait and paddled over to the jetty side. Saw Todd and a buddy of his, both had what looked like keeper size halibut. Was having no luck and at about midday I says to myself with this tide ripping out all day and if the wind picks up I'm in for a sore shoulder end to the day. Paddled back and no sooner did I pass the bait barge the wind started. No fish caught, great workout and great weather. Will be a few weeks before I get on the water again. Doubt it will be as summer like then as it was today.
Cheers

You didn't see anything, Alan. It got much worse. I had to pedal and paddle at the same time just to move a little bit against the fast moving out going tide.

The jetty is dead now. I don't plan on going back until about May.

current was estimated off GPS on fish finder...I went back and looked....The actual high tide was 6.5 and low was -0.2 so 6.7 foot change plus strong Santa Ana winds... the current was really ripping out of the mouth of SD bay and there was wind generated white caps...I will definitely check tide charts and and take notice of the red flag warning next time heading out to the jetty...
