Need a PFD for a big guy... What do you like?

6'4 250lber looking for a good PFD.. Problem is I will need to order online so won't be able to try on prior. I live to far from everwhere to actually go in and try one on. Besided when I have had the chance to go try one on most places don't even have one for my size, they all say they will have to order. Well I can order one on my own. So what do you have that you like? The Ski boat PFD I have been using needs to be replaced with a more specific Fishing and Kayak PFD..

NRS

Go to OEX...I am 6-3, 270 and use the NRS XX Large PDF. Fits me perfectly and is really comfortable. Totally set up for fishing. Can't go wrong.

It's about a 3hr drive for me to go to OEX. Last time I was there they didn't have any XXL's so that is another reason I would like to mail order. I could order through OEX though. Do you remember which NRS PFD it is? Thanks...

I bought this one from OEX store. They don't have them online, but they do sell it in their stores.

I have an extrasport Osprey

  • Sizing is as follows:
  • XS/SM fits 33 to 39 inch chest size
  • M/L fits 40 to 45 inch chest size
  • XL/XXL fits 46 to 56 inch chest size
I personally have the M/L and I'm 6'2" 185 pounds and wear a 44 Carhart and the thing is plenty big on me, huge in fact.

I'd say that the XL/XXL would probably fit you fine.

Here it is on sale for $50..

Here's one on ebay for $79..
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...024#vi-content

It's good to have protection that fits right.

With that in mind if anyone has a good source for prophylactics "for a big guy"

Anyone familiar with the MTI PFD''s? They have a few fishing PfD's that look good. I have been searching for some NRS Chinook in a color other than orange and can't find one. I will keep looking though. The MTI's look nice though...

The most popular PFD we do for bigger guys is the Chinook. In fact its the most popular period,

The XXL Chinnok has a chest of up to 50"

Also the Fisherman from Stohlquist in the universal Plus size will extend to a chest of 54". This PFD is a little better design as the shoulders are neoprene making the pfd more comfortable.

We are stocking the new MTI F-Spec's as well. They are great looking PFD's but the largest chest size we have in stock is 46" on the lg/xl size (not sure if they have a larger size, but we dont have them in stock).

If you have any questions or want to order a PFD feel free to give me a call at the shop 866-587-2990. Ill even give you 10% off the PFD.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I am at work for the next few days but my son called me and said I had a package delivered today from OEX. Andy hooked me up with a NRS Chinook. Should be just what I need. Thanks again for all the help everyone and especially all the guys from OEX. You know who you are.. Thanks again.
