Newbie here

Hey everyone,

New to the forum. I'm Ray and I'm also deaf. I'm starting to get into kayak fishing and kinda leaving my passion in spearfishing because I was diagnosed with anemia. I'm located in San Diego and I'm getting a X-Factor soon. Just wanted to say hey.

Welcome

Hi Ray,
Thanks for the introduction. I'm pretty new here as well and still consider myself a rookie kayak fisher.

In my opinion you joined the right site. The posts are inspiring to say the least and can be very helpful.

Have fun with your new "addiction".

Bret

Ray,

Hey Ray, I am going to assume there is not a plethora of deaf guys named Ray in San Diego who spearfish. Anemia aside, after your recent GW encounter, Kayak fishing will be a welcome diversion. You are a very lucky man. A barrier between you and the teeth, even if it is just plastic, should give you some sense of safety. Welcome to the site, you will find that this, like the spearos, is an amazing community to belong to. I paddle a WS ride, sand colored. If you see me please swing by and say hi. Again welcome, and thank god you made it out of that one unscathed.

Eric

welcome....while you might not be able to hand pick which WSB you want, the suspense when it finally comes to color all silvery and glowing....well, that's pretty cool too. good luck!

I would want to be top side as well!

Ray - Incredible story regarding the GW. I know the GW isn't the reason your in a kayak now but I'm not sure I want to be in a yak after reading that article let alone diving.
The buddy system isn't a bad idea for kayak fishing as well.

Welcome Ray! Good to see that you are still gonna be able to slay some fish. Seeing a Big fish color on a kayak is just about as fun as shooting them. (not that I have shot any big ones )

Sorry to hear your leaving the diving Ray but maybe now we can finally get on the water together as I plan on fishing more this year (Been having ear problems and its keeping me from diving. Too much firearm shooting w/o protection).

If you need any help on the kayak let me know, Ill swap you for some help on my skiff.
