Last month's twin

You know when you get that gut feeling to hit the water? Well, I got it bad this morning and headed out again after I dropped the girls off at school. The surf was up a bit from yesterday but the tides were right. Worked the normal areas and picked up some shorts up to 21". I had a game plan to try a few new areas and headed off. First drop at the first spot I hook up. Dead weight with big head shakes. I instantly remember that the leader had a few ticks so I backed way off on the drag. Up and down most of the time with occasional runs out and towards the surface. About ten minutes into the fight I finally get to see what it was as this big dark carpet swam towards the boat and then back down out of sight. It took me another ten minutes but I finally subdued the fish. This light and flakey taped out at 40 1/2" and peg the scale at an even 30 lbs. No need to pound the sand some more so I headed in.

The best part was bringing the fish to my daughter's school so all the kids could take a look. Lot's of kids with fishing on their minds now.

Wow

That fish has been in my mind for two years now. Anything else (besides a thresher) is a byproduct of trying for one of those. Congrats.
