I installed a Hummingbird GPS ANTENNA on the second time I put my Matrix 12 in the holder a pin broke on the plug for the antenna. I called Hummingbird and they told me in a few words tuff luck go buy a new antenna foe a 100.00 I will never buy another Hummingbird product. This is a warning that hummingbird does not stand buy their products.

tuff one. I've had H-bird FF's for 8 years. Best service second only to Standard Horizon.

It's unfortunate that they weren't very helpful. I've had pretty good luck with the 3 Humminbird fish finders that I've had. They took care of the problems on my 77c with no questions asked.

Did you get the buy-up extended warrantee? Haven’t owned a hummer in years but when I did their customer service was second to none.

Now days I get all of my electronics at West Marine. No questions asked - swap out bad for good on the way home and you are back on the water the very next day.

Yep, West Marine 2 year protection plan. I won't be surprised if they make us kayak fishermen ineligible for participation. It will run you $30 - $40 depending on how much you pay for whatever you buy.

I just got a new eTrex handheld GPS. A year after I bought it, the display started flaking on me... I brought it in, got the new one, and guess what - the 2 year protection on the new unit I just picked up has been reset to start from the day I got the new unit. You've got to love it.

BTW - if one of those young sales kids in West Marine starts telling you how you need to call the 1-800 number, talk to the insurance company and deal directly with them (just happened to me)... just brush 'em off and go talk to the manager. They'll take care of you, they'll handle everything right there and then. It's true that it is through a separate insurance carrier, but it is West Marine's protection program.
