Totoaba

This is a great read that should hit close to home for anyone who has traveled down to Baja to enjoy this amazing wilderness. It is being absolutely destroyed because of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Drug cartels

This is sad Dom on a number of levels. The vaquita species appears to be toast within a couple of years, and I'm guessing Totoava aren't going to make it either.

The saddest part to me is that the supposed health benefits of totoaba bladder in traditional chinese medicine are likely nothing but superstition and maybe some placebo effect.

Tragic

very sad indeed, sucks the honest fisherman gets the short end of the stick and the poachers keep going at it.

Well we may not be able to do anything about the above issues, but what we can do as individual is to do our part and follow the regulations.

No matter where we fish (US or Baja), we can follow the local laws and not overfish and keep way over limit because there is a small chance of getting checked.

We should do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do.

Not because we may get busted, or get a pat in the back.
