Trans mount

A friend mentioned that there was a post on mounting a transducer in a pvc pipe with a cap, and glued down to bottom of yak. Any help where I can get info? Thanks
He mentioned something about it being in water also.

Mark,

The Wet Mount works great but some people have reported problems getting the plastic well to stick to the hull. This problem usually occurs on kayaks with hulls that flex a lot when in stressful conditions such as a surf launch.

Proper preparation of the hull plastic and generous use of Goop will usually overcome this problem but if everything fails, you might consider the Grease Mount. Since there is no wet well, the adhesive bond is not as critical.

You can learn more about this method here. http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/s...t=grease+mount

I am currently using the grease mount on my Revo. It appears to perform just as well as the wet mount. Problems previously reported with the temperature reading being off have disappeared for some reason. The last time I went out, the temp readings seemed to be quite accurate.
