Mission Bay, Nov 05

Met Amish Ed and his friend Steve at 05:30 to hit the bay, first time there for me. It was cool out but not terrible. When I left Yucaipa at 03:30 there was ice on the horses water. Lots of spotties, mostly small but a few in the 13" range and two over 14". I started out fishing a 3" white fluke on a scrounger head, when that quit working I switched to a smaller fluke and picked up a lot of 10" spots. Then I started trolling a small crawdad diving plug and the big spots liked it. I was fishing light tackle and I had one fish on that I couldn't get off the bottom, it eventually took me into the eel grass and got loose from the plug. Still a great day, ended up down to my t-shirt and shorts and it was still warm. Thanks to Ed and Steve for letting me tag along.

Thanks for joining us Harry. It was good to get back on the water. I didn't do so well, couldn't get the short biters to stick. 4" Paddlerz in rootbeer/gold flake was good. Got a blade fish and a couple on the jig.

Bad part of the day was finding out that the leak in my yak is getting worse. Gotta find it and hopefully fix it.

yeah, leaks aren't good. if you have a compressor you can put air into the hull then run soapy water over the hull, it should bubble at the leak.

I wouldn't be able to get a decent seal. No compressor either. I'm going to fill the yak with water later and see if it's leaking from a scupper up high.I tried this once before, but I didn't fill it all they way to the top. I figured I had a leak from dragging the yak and wore a hole through. Nope.
