Dana Point

Anyone fishing Dana Point on Monday, the 14th? I'm making the drive from the SFV and would like to hook up with someone who knows the area. PM me. Appreciate it.

you can do it on your own if you had to.

Your options:
The pipe = might be hard to stay on if you don't know where it is.
in harbor = not too exciting
south = pounding the sand
Headlands north = a mix bag of opportunity. Troll for Ts, fish stringers for bass. Drag the bottom for butts, and anything else that you can fool! A lot of options.

A long drives deserves a successful outing! Good luck.

Thank you. Headlands North: is that towards San Juan Rocks from the harbor?

correct. wrap around jetty, head north...around that headland is a beach called strands. Further north beyond the next impression is salt creek.

that's a lot of kelp to cover. on your way in the wind should be a south wind to your back. Wind and wave chop can make for stupid/wet/slow ride home.

WInd around 11 mph is tolerable.

My experience is the exact opposite. I fish usually in the afternoons to evenings. Wind & chop is always to my face and making for a slow wet ride as I'm heading to the headlands, and a nice fast ride back in the late afternoon to evening.

Thank you. I'm just glad I know what direction to go. My buddy is gonna be in his folding Porta-Bote so I'll have support if need be. I've muscled thru some less than desirable conditions before so I should be ok. The forecast looks good so everything is a go.
