Battle of the Bays Round 2

CCA CAL is happy to announce on BWE first...that the Battle of the Bays Kayak Tournament Trail has returned for Round Two....and... we're proud to announce that...

OEX SUNSET BEACH WILL BE OUR HOBIE SPONSOR AT THE SANTA MONICA BAY EVENT ON JUNE 9TH AT THE KING HARBOR YACHT CLUB.

OEX and Hobie have donated $1000 in Hobie product as the top raffle prize in addition to a Hobie Mirage Drive Pro Angler 12 for the top angler in the four tourneys, to be awarded at the Dana Point event. Rules are on the iAngler tourney pages.

The Captain's meeting will be at Island Tackle on Sunday June 3rd at 10am.

The Battle of the Bays has expanded to 4 events up and down Southern California this summer. The website (www.battleofthebays) has not been updated yet (2/15) and the iAngler Tournament sites are not accepting registration until Monday the 19th...but please check back soon as we'll have the sites up ASAP.

The first twenty to register at each tourney will receive a drawing ticket for a Phenix Inshore rod and the winner will be chosen as soon as those 20 have registered and paid.

CCA CAL will be at the Dana Landing Bay Bass event on Sunday to release the tourneys to the public on the Let's Talk Hook Up radio show as well as at the OEX Mission Bay Classic once again to sign up CCA members and to support HOW.

CCA will also be at all the upcoming fishing shows. Please stop by and say Hi and sign up for the CCA.

BATTLE OF THE BAYS 2018

Round Two of The Battle of The Bays CCA CAL Kayak Tournament is here.
The series of 4 events will start on May 5th at Dana Landing in Mission Bay with the second tourney in Santa Monica Bay at the King Harbor Yacht Club on June 9th. Channel Islands Harbor’s Vintage Marina will host the northern end of the tournament on June 30th. The final stop will be in Dana Point on July 14th hosted by Pure Watersports.

Once again Hobie will be our title sponsor with the following Hobie dealers as our sponsors, OEX Sunset Beach, Pure Watersports, Fastlane Sailing and Kayak Center, and Channel Islands Kayak Center. Together they are donating $1000 in Hobie product at each event for our raffles and a Pro Angler 12 will be presented to the angler of the year with the longest bag of bass in the four tournaments (to be presented at Dana Point).

We will be utilizing the iAngler smart phone app for another Catch, Photo, Release (CPR) tourney to minimize the impact on the bass population. The longest bass caught in all four events will be awarded a Kayak Jet Kit (value $1100) from Bixpy.

Jeff Mariani’s company, Cedros Kayak Fishing, has donated a trip which will go to one of the anglers registered in the tournament’s drawings. Each registered angler will receive one drawing ticket for this all-inclusive four-day trip (except alcohol and tips). The winning ticket will be pulled at the Dana Point event.

The angler with the longest bag of Bass at each tournament will receive a $500 gift card from either Dana Landing or Turners Outdoorsman. Second place will get a $250 Okuma gift card and third will get a $125 Promar/AHI gift card. Fourth place, $75 cards will be provided by Hookup Baits.

Master is donating a Roody “Reaper” graphite rod as the prize at each event for the longest fish caught on a Mity Might rod. This side tourney has a $20 buy in and the Mity Might rod and reel is yours to keep.
AHI will give away a $100 selection of Live Deception and Assault Jigs to the largest Rockfish caught and weighed-in on one of their Assault, LDJ, or Squish rig products at the Channel Islands and Santa Monica Bay tourneys.

We will have another heaviest fish side pot with a $20 buy-in and a full cash payout. Once again all DFW sport fish except sharks and Rays are eligible for weigh-in.

Phenix Rods is donating 4 rods to be used in a raffle for the first twenty anglers to register and pay for each tournament on the iAngler site.

Lunch, drinks, and a tournament t-shirt will be provided by CCA CAL and our local CCA chapter volunteers will once again handle all the heavy lifting at each venue.

We will have lots of raffle prizes from sponsors like: Hobie, Penn, RAM, Scotty, Shimano, Aftco, Leadmaster, Danuu, Morita Gaffs, One Cool Tuna, Boyce Image, Calstar Rods, Palm Fish Guy, War Baits, Grundens, Blue Seas Fabrication, Big Hammer Lures, Engel and Costa.

Raffle tickets will be sold at each venue for $1 each or 25 for $20.

A registration link and more info is at www.battleofthebays.com or you can register at iAngler Tournament. Registration is $60 and anglers can pay through PayPal at iAngler or on the day of the event.

All the tournaments will be a shotgun start at 7am with all CPR photos submitted by 1pm. All participating anglers must be in line for weigh-in before 1pm.

Final interpretations on rules, photos, or weight will be the decision of the Tournament Director and the CCA Judges.

Captain’s meetings will be held the weekend prior to each tournament. Due to the use of the iAngler app, the meetings are highly recommended but not mandatory. Tournament info, Rules, Captain’s meeting times and locations can be found at iAngler Tournament and at www.battleofthebays.com

Thank You to all our sponsors for their generous donations!

Awesome, Might do the Santa Monica Bay and Channel islands events.

Any thoughts or stance on going outside of the harbor?

Areas?

It's a shotgun launch at 7am...weigh-in and all photos must be in by 1pm
You can go as far as your drive will take you during that time...live and dead bait is allowed.
Weather is always a safety factor to be aware of and your limited fishing time...
The official rules are on the iAngler pages

Nope...no age limit if the kid has a parent to sign the waiver.

We had two kids in the King Harbor event last year.

Wow...

WOW...what a great response to the PHENIX rod drawing for the first twenty to sign up at each event. The Mission Bay tourney has 7 anglers registered yesterday...13 more and I'll pick a winner for your choice of one of these 4 rods.
The rods range in value from $189 to $229...2 - RTS 774 & 714 Inshore rods, an ABYSS PSX807, and an ASIX HAX820...

Signed up as soon as I saw the email yesterday for Mission Bay - hopefully it won't be Victory at Sea like it was last year.
Thinking I'll also try Dana Point this year instead of King Harbor - shorter drive.

Mission Bay

Jim,

I'm signed up for the Mission Bay event. Hopefully it won't be blowing like last year. Thanks for all the work that you do for these events and the CCA.
