Dana Pt Report

Decided to head north today and try some deeper water. Hali 35 1/2"; taken with 10" mac on 5oz torpedo, 30# leader, trap hook at 120 ft. PS when I removed hook I found some "tonsil jewelry" from a previous attempt. If it is your tackle please identify and I will return it to you.

Beautiful, that will be me in the picture one day, not brown and flat, but smiling holding the big butt.

No doubt, Harry. Keep it on the bottom and fight with a light drag. You'll be reeling in those 20-30 pounders soon!

Possibly a trap rig with double octopus hooks? Had a few bite offs in that area on Sat. I assumed that they were Soup fins after landing one and getting another on dowrigger video. But there is that tiny chance that I tied a bad knot. I did manage 1 keeper that went 37.4lbs.

Man I'm itching to get out there but life is in the way. My stuff is spread out over 3 storage locations while I'm in the middle of a move. Thanks for the DP report, nice to know what to look forward to soon.

Very nice, talked to my Mom yesterday and she said that you caught a Halibut. Way to go and thanks for taking the time to share.

Fished from 8am-2pm yesterday. Easy mackerel in 40 feet Lots of shark bite offs around 120 feet. My wife had what looked like a really good one coming up that shook the hook on the way up, had to convince her she did not do anything wrong "slow and steady" lots of big head shakes and weight, severely raked greenback. Off-shores turned to glass then switched on shore and still not quite 10 knts, we picked a good window of opportunity. Lots of whales and dolphin, just did not seal the deal on taking home dinner.

Greg- over 37 lbs! That is awesome but it doesn't surprise me if you caught it. Charts show mid 40 " for that weight. Good to know there are some monsters lurking around. PS it wasn't your jewelry.
Andy-thanks for report. I was really wondering what it was like Wednesday. I caught a 4' shark right after above Hali and last month I lost a lotta tackle to the soupfins.
