The Search for Bass in Dana

A view soon after a launch from Tim's.

Two hard earned bass on swimbaits.

San Clemente waters, these are boilers that are directly off
Mariposa St, in San Clemente. There were plenty of fish, but
no one was biting. Just past the pier is T Street. A reef I used
to fish from a surfboard that always produce great fish. But
not today.

Long and thin, this 20" sandy fought surprisingly hard.

Finally the meal: Thailand freshwater prawn and bass over pasta.
Thai prawns? Frozen at the Ranch 99 Market.

Fishing should start to pick up after our nearshore
waters clear up.

Good job Yani, you are just paying your dues I guess. That Sandie fought hard because he'd rather swim in saltwater than olive oil

Holly crap,

for a moment I thought you're turning Blue Water Jon on us!

Great report!!!

Admit it,
you're doing no sport fishing,
it's digestive tract fishing

Great report, as usual, Yani. I went out of DP today and it was tough to get bit. Temp 58, water murky. Picked up 2 short hali's at Doho, but no bass around the reefs. Where do you launch in SC?

Hey Wayne,

The bite has been slow in Dana, I agree. There are
a few launch sites in San Clemente. There's a public
lot at the north end near the train depot at North
Beach. I've been eyeing it forever, but, it requires
super small surf. There's another public lot at
Mariposa St, just on the otherside of the train
tracts. Then there's San Clemente Pier parking
and the State Beach. But all require small surf,
especially in the winter since the beaches face
more west and north.

However, I paddled my jet-fast FnD from the Dana marina.

Nice work on the Bass.

That's a pretty long paddle from DP to T-Street, must've been fun!
