Heed the warnings!!

Seems some people still don't check out reports these days before launching, I got the small craft advisory this last weekend, seems this sad bunch did not... Thank goodness all are ok...

On a side note, is this why you Hobie's don't surf launch/land??

These were rookies. They went out OK. But came back in on the wrong side. Harbor a Patrol said the entry on the other side is the correct entry point. But they just entered the way they exited. Tough lesson to learn. Glad everyone is OK.

I monitor the weather days before going out in a boat or my Hobie.

I launch & land in big surf in my Hobie. But don't recommend it to rookies or guys in Hobie PA's. My Revo13 is much more maneuverable & faster.

Anyone else notice the "dad" sitting on his overturned boat while his kid was being rescued by someone else? Father of the year right there!

Glad everyone is OK - It's sad when kids pay the price for their parents' stupidity/ignorance.

My personal theory is the last spoken words before the video were: "Hey son, hold my beer as I surf this boat along the wave"!

You don't end up surfing the face of a wave at velocity like that by accident.

who knows... give the guy the benefit of the doubt. things like that can happen fast especially if there was strong rip currents. it can create a yawing and change direction of the vessel pointing it into the surf. maybe he didn't realize until it was too late. maybe he was inexperienced. idk.

if you don't know, not cool to start rumors. probably already a horrifying enough event for his family. let them and the police handle it. i had family members run aground at sea last year resulting in death and injuries. there was no alcohol or other drugs involved. i can tell you it was upsetting for family to read a bunch of false rumors and accusations. shit happens. be glad it wasn't you and learn from it.
