finally shopping for an activity camera!

Is the gopro the one to have or are there others that have great stills as well as movie footage? Hoping to keep it around 300

What should I look for ?

Any opinions?

Thanks, Chris

I think the GoPro is the best. But for myself I needed something I could use in other areas.

first try was the kodak play sport, it worked great, until i washed and dried it in my jacket. (the bastard still worked, even though the door that protects the memory card came off)

I just purchased the Samsung W200 Camcorder
with 8GB MicroSD Card + Floating Strap for 99.00 from Costco. I havent tried it yet but if it sucks its easy to return. The review are pretty decent, we will see

If you get the GoPro, get the GoPro 2. Check out their site and you can compare the regular to the 2. The big one is from 5 to 12 megapixel photos. Drawback is that there is only an add-on view screen and it apparantly sucks the battery dry.

it depends if you want a still camera or a video camera or a still camera that shoots video ok. Not so much the video part, but the focal length of the lens won't be as wide as the gopro.

Here is a good review of the latest waterproof still cameras that shoot video. The next button is kinda hard to find, maybe about 1/2 down the page.

If you want a video camera, then get the new gopro.
