I don't typically use spinning gear for bay fishing unless it is for dropshotting. I would use a small to medium sized baitcaster on a medium or medium heavy 7ft rod. 20-30lb braid mainline. 10-15lb flouro or mono leader.

But really for spinning gear I like my saros 3000FA and pair it up either with a clarus dropshot rod or phenix bermuda rod. I also have a van staal VS100 I will occasionally fish in the bay but I don't recommend paying that price unless you want it for surf fishing
