Dana 7/4, 6:30AM, Boat Ramp

.. change of plans.. instead of Redondo, I will try to get my son his (our) first legal hali tomorrow morning in DP..

Gotta love lazy So Cal afternoons, sitting by the pool.. making trap rigs.

Saw that these seem to work for some of the Sewer Crew on the recent Islander trip, so I'm giving it a try tomorrow! Seems like much better movement of the trap hook with these crimp loops.. versus hand-tie direct onto the hook. We'll see how it works.

Me and Honcho are launching around 6:30am from the boat ramp. I think we'll drag some live bait, and I'll probably bring some fresh/dead squid also.

Good luck in DP on the 4th of July!

Every powerboat and sailboat A-hole will be out there trying to impress his/her family...

Wish I could make it... Good luck. Btw how do you keep the trap hook from catching on something? Lost two rigs last time.

Yeah, I'm hoping if we get there by 6am we'll get parking. Get our 2-3 legal halis, and get off the water by noon-ish, before the drunken boat regatta is in full force. That's the plan.

Yea it's gonna be a fuster cluck of tourists on yaks and sups in the harbor, worse than last weekend which was pretty bad. Add all the boat traffic and it'll be really busy. I may go paddle out around Doheny and stay out of the harbor.

It's already started at DP. My buddy went by there at around midnight and there's RVs lining the streets down by baby beach and people camping out on the island already. I might just pass on fishing there till the weekend.
