First time on the yak, 2nd time fishing!

I decided to take my boy (2 1/2 yrs old) out to catch his first fish. I did not want him to get skunked the first time out so we did the drive to the Salton Sea for some Tilapia action. I remember going there as a child and catching more fish then we knew what to do. I was hoping it would be similar to that. (May 2011)

We started to fish and DFG showed up, my son grabbed his hand and took him to the cooler to show him what we caught!!!

Fast forward a few months, and I decided that I could take him on the Kayak for his first try...(he asked if I could take him rowing??)

We spent about an hour on the water, just cruising around. This was one of the best days of my life. My son loves the water, enjoys fishing and I could not be happier.

Simply awesome. That's how most of us got started. fishing with Dad or Granddad. Good for you and enjoy these times. They don't stay that size forever.

The smallest things make the biggest impact in my memory. Like my first pole, fish, etc. Keep the tradition alive!

Great story, I can clearly picture the fishing trips with my dad and grandpa and thefish we caught. Naturally, as a little guy, all the fish seemed enormous. Maybe that's how we learn how to streeeeeeetch the size of the fish we catch as adults. " Yep, you should have seen the one that got away!!!"

Way to go...and with each fish he catches, he'll want one bigger than the last...until soon, he will be outfishing you...

And that my friend will be one of the happiest days of your life

Oh the Salton Sea... I remember my dad taking us there when I was 5 yrs old. The shore littered with dead fish... I loved it. I would like to take my boys out there sometime. Thanks for the report..
