Had a great time, waiting for the next one. Weather was chilly in the morning but absolutely gorgeous by noon. Good food great company! Awesome day! Couple of fish even showed for the party, though one left earlier than we hoped. Surf fishing in the evening turned out dismal results. Only one tiny sargo for all the bait I had brought. But a beutiful sunset to cap off a great day. Nice fish there iceman good eatin'. Thanks for organizing and see ya next time!

What a great day

Andy thanks for the great day I still feel stupid when I asked you who is the ICEMAN. You all made me feel welcomed and the beach launching was a real learning thing too bad the waves were so small (RIGHT) can't wait for the next outting want to say thanks to ZED for the encouragement to come and practice beach luanching with those size of waves I think I can fish outside the harbor now. Moondoggy OUT"""""

Arrived at San O at just before 6 AM and the cars were lined up for 1/2 mile

They got everyone in really quickly. We all met down at the south end of the beach. Offshore breeze was chilly, so most waited for the warm sun to peek over the bluff. Fishin' (Fearless) Phil, charged out to go fishing. Most of the rest opted to surf those big ol waves.

We fired up the grill for hamburgers and John and Troy slow grilled some brats. Great potluck with potato salads and chips and beans. We ate like kings I was the first back in the water after lunch and hooked up on the second cast, got a look at the fish and started yelling "Gaff!!!" to the guys 70-80 yards away on the beach. Aaron who had just launched turned around and got the needed gaff. Handed it off and I finally stick the fish after several runs and getting broadsided by several small breakers, seeing the fish cruising along the rocky weedy bottom below me. No gameclip either so Aaron opened my front hatch and in she went.

Thanks everyone! for coming out, I had a great time. Gotta do it again June 7th We just have to get Zed to set up the fish taco bar

We were watching Andy set up in the trough, and laughed as he was poke-poling the bottom with his paddle --gaging depth I guess. I said to T-man, "he should just put a gig tip on there, and not mess with the rod. And not 30sec later we hear some girl screaming gaff down the beach.

T-man the gaffer needs mention. As Aaron was peeling off to paddle to the beach, T-man grabbed my gaff and sprinted to the water to hand it to him in the shorebreak. It must have seemed like forever to Andy. But Gaffman was on it!

Really fun day. And since Andy seemed to get the only fish, the fish taco-blame lies on his head.

What a great day!!!!

We had some great food and some fun surf! Don't miss the next one and be early, you need to be in line at 5:30am to get a parking spot. I showed up at 6:30 and had to get all the guys to move over a few feet so I could park. Thanks guys very much appriciated!!!

It was awsome watching the master Andy catch that nice halibut!! It was classic!!! Stogie in the mouth, paddle in one hand, fighting the fish with fishing rod in the other hand, and avoiding the waves with a gaff in his lap. Talk about multi tasking!!!

Rex also hooked into a nice fish that pulled the gaff out of his hand. Not sure how it happened, but it sounds like the big one that got away. I hit the area for about 2 more hours after those guys left for notta.

Arrived at 6:30 and left at 6:30 it was a great day!!!

Take it easy!!!

Looks like a lot of fun! Another nice halibut, Andy. I'd like to make it to one of these, but there's always a conflict. If the next one is on the 7th, I and a number of other guys here will be on the Islander. And I'll be out of town the first weekend of July, so... August 2nd?
