Hull protector - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

I thought I saw a thread on different kinds of applications to put on the hull to minimize the deep scratches that are caused by the docks, concrete, etc. can someone suggest any applications they used successfully? thanks!

Having the kid use the kayak tends to peddle/paddle straight to the dock and have a nice scratch..I guess same goes for me too

I picked up some heavy duty shelf protectors from work. The are 48"x 18" and can easily be cut into strips. I'll take a photo when I get home. I'm still trying to figure out how I want to attach the pieces to my hull.

thanks, when you get chance that would great. I found the thread and they pointed to KeelEAZY...looks promising and not too expensive...

JB Weld is pretty amazing stuff... I've fixed a gas tank, and a cracked car fender with it.

Honcho, I wonder about putting on that KeelEasy AFTER the keel has been scuffed up already. I have some pretty nice sized scratches and gouges, courtesy of the Dana Point boat ramp.

I should have put that on when I first got my yak.

I think I have 3 or 4 rolls of this. I haven't done an abrasion test yet.

keel easy works but not for long. I have it on my pro angler and it's pretty much all worn off, I have to replace it or put something else. If you plan on dragging your kayak keeleazy will last about half of a second before tearing to shreds. I think it's good stuff for areas that will see a light to moderate wear. But for heavy wear areas...like I said won't last long. Don't take my word for it try it out yourself!

I think would work great with the bond that Matt recommended. Would love to hear how it holds up.

Thanks guys for the input, I'll have to see about procuring a flexible PVC fabric that holds against abrasion...
