Any yakkin' habit changes or gear changes as the days shorten?

Summer is easy. The days are longer ...

You can hit the water after work, get in some float time and paddle in as the sun sets. You get a bit of a workout, and a bit of sea time midweek.

So, if I can't shift my work schedule by 2 hours to stay in the light . . .

Other then a Yakattack light mast and finally getting a handheld radio, does anyone have advice on prudent rigging or tips for night paddlin'?

Headlamps worth buyin'?

I expect I'll stay close to LB breakwater/Alamitos Bay areas.

Make yourself as visible as possible. If they can barely see you in the daytime what makes you think they'll be able to see you at night?
