More yak bugs

I got out on the water last night for a little bassin and buggin. I hit the water on the yak around 3:30pm. The tide was heading out so I made the decision to go out to an area I haven't hooped for a while. Made the long paddle out of the harbor and started to the spot. Well...there was a swell yesterday and the spot was not good. So I headed off to look for another spot.

I caught some bass (nothing worthy) and watched the sun go down. Set the hoops and waited for the first pull.

Beautiful conditions out there last night. Very little wind, warm conditions......hell even three sea lions swam right by me without any harrassment. All was right with the world.

I finished my stoagie and went to make the first pull of the night. The hoops were heavy but man there were a lot of shorts. The shorts all had barnacles on them as well. It doesn't look like they had molted any time lately. this remained the story of the night. Tons of shorts and clickers with a keeper every once in a while. I made a lots of pulls last night to come up with a stringer of keepers. It became easy to see which were keepers. If you saw a bug without barnacles it was probably a keeper or clicker.

The tide was heading in pretty strong and the crawl had slowed way down so I made the last pull (one net had a keeper and the rest were empty) and jumped the incoming tide for the paddle back to the beach. Off the water at 10pm.

A great night out last night. I may have to do this again sometime.
