save the guts from the YT and WSB along with the squid you have left over. Bugs love squid too. stuff it all in the cage.

Yes already saving macs.

I still have macs from last year, do lobsters care about freezer burn?

I really want to go out with (a group) to La Jolla on a low swell night ....

Do you guys prefer cages or hoops? And how long do you soak your traps? Looking to try out lobster fishing this year...

Any replies are appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Lobstering

I am pretty religious about hoop netting. Soak the traps for 15-45 mins.

What is the daily bag limit for lobster? The possession limit?
A. According to Section 29.90(b) T14, CCR, the daily recreational bag limit is seven lobsters per person. Additionally, Section 1.17 states that no more than one daily bag limit may be taken or possessed by any one person unless otherwise authorized (see Declaration for Multi-Day Fishing Trip, Section 27.15 T14, CCR), regardless of whether they are fresh, frozen or otherwise preserved. This means that if you have a limit of seven lobsters at home, you cannot go out and get more lobsters until the first limit is disposed of in some way (eaten, given away, etc).

I've found that fresh bait from that day is better than frozen stinky stuff. I like to load the bait tank and keep them alive till I cut them.

Finyak, I recently bought a great used set on Bloodydecks at a great price ($15 ea). I was putting in a request in their classified every week or so and found a seller...good luck. Jim

Smelt???

So I've been going out with my sabiki rig stocking up on mackerel for the season and I'm getting a lot of smelt. Does anyone throw smelt in with the macs?? I get the feeling that the bugs will eat anything you put out there but I am interested to see if anyone has had good or bad results loading the bait cages full of smelt.

Thanks
