Infection or Injury? - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

I picked this guy up today, when I turned him around I saw this big mark on him. It looks like it could be an injury but it's in a wierd place, and not sure what would attack him in the bay. Infection makes more sense.

Looks like it was made by a parasitic copepod.
