Vancouver to Rock Island Fish Camp.

Vancouver to Rock Island Fish Camp.

Sunday, July 17, 2016

1-I am on my way to my destination via the scenic route. Less traveled and more scenic than the main freeway.

2-It takes little getting used to when the metric system is used.

3-I made a stop for gas and found some great inexpensive jazz CDs.

Prices are of course per litter. About 1/4th of a gallon.

4- The “service station” was very impressive as to what they had available for sale.

5-More road pictures.

6-On the way I passed by this place and had to make “uee” and see what is all about. I was not disappointed.

7-These are manmade rest stops for the salmon.

8-There was a visitor center that included a theater showing the life of salmon as well as the ever-present gift shop and a place to eat.

9-After the pit stop at Hell’s Gate, I continued northward.

10-A stop to have some food and stretch my legs.

11-More road pictures. Could not get enough of river scenery.

12-A cow ranch in the distance.

13-Large green pastures as far as eye could see at times.

On the way I encountered some heavy down pour and as well as sunny skies.

14-There were many signs warning about deer and moos crossing. Sure enough I saw a deer.

15-A huge lake on the way.

16-So many lakes that it will take a life time to fish them all. Maybe more.

17-I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel as I get off road to a service road.

18-As I turn to the forestry service road, right away I see a rabbit. I am in the wilderness my friend.

At this point the Garmin was not helpful since the road is service road and not an asphalted (I guess).

I was driving a compact car with low clearance. My cell phone was inoperative in Vancouver and even if it did work, there are no signals here.

As I made several wrong turns and road became full of pot holes with water in them, I got nervous.
If I get stuck in the mud, there is no way I can contact anybody, unless I walk.
I kept back tracking and finally I took the right road and………

19-…..SAW

TO BE CONTINUED….
