Shelter Island 3/5-6 reminder

Ok guys and gals,
Just a reminder that we will be going on our field trip to SD, Shelter Island...for a nice fish filled day.
We are planning on heading down there mid morning on Saturday, hang out and then fish on Sunday, the more the merrier.
6:00 am tee time at the beach near the boat launch, weather permitting,
of course, but I am hopeful for a nice weekend.
It is a bit of a drive for me that's why I am arriving the day before, besides wifey loves it there, so we go down early to get in some shopping time in.
I am ready for it, I haven't been able to get out in a few weeks...see you all out there...
"role call???"

I'm in and Jhook, you are very welcome to join us. The original plan was to paddle to Zuniga, but not sure if that's still the plan, it's a long paddle. I'm in search of the Flat kind of fish.

Hey Bret, I think..... (my wife thinks) I am in for Sunday.

I have not fished the area that you are talking about before. Describe it a little please. I know its the bay, is there a bait barge? Anyone know if they have Sardines? Any info would be great.

Don't let the weather stop you boys, unless it is a thunder/lightning situation..... you are in the bay. That is what rain gear is for!

it's kinda like the pass to the bridge, beach launch no waves, bait dock about a 30-45min paddle fish on the way, can get busy, and don't let the navy boat scare you if you are near their areas, hopefully the butts will come and play, sandies and calico...that's about it in a nutshell, it should be a great time...can't wait

Thanks Gents! Looking forward to it. This will motivate me to get my bait tank finished.

Power boat races?

I was going to fish sd bay on Saturday, then seen on the local news we have a major power boat race at sd bay this weekend. Not sure of the track layout, think Mission bay may be quieter. Just thought I would share the info hope your visit is good best regards

I don't think SD Bay would be where the race would be due to the Military ships, and all the other potential problems that speed boats would pose in the big bay.

I've done a ton of searching and I can't find anything about a boat race in the bay. There might be a sailboat race in the Southbay or something but I have not seen anything about a speed boat race.
