bait basket

Will this keep the bait alive? And how long will they stay alive for?

yes, but it would suck to paddle around. Do a search here for "bait tube" works much better ~$5 to make.

Bait Basket

I tried dragging one of those baskets around and it create tons of drag. I ended up putting the fish and the basket on the kayak when I peddled, and then put it back in the water every few minutes to keep the fish alive. It was a real pain in the butt. If you're on a small budget definitely go with the bait tube.

When your finger is still cut open from a prior even bigger fish you'll wear a glove to.

Thanks for the responds. I have a hobie sport and I'm around 190. So I don't want to put a bait bucket since the weight limit is 245.

if weight and space are an issue try using a little 6pack cooler, they are easy to change the water in, light, and you can keep 2 or three macs alive all day in one (gotta change the water every hour or so)....and you just gotta fight the urge to fill it with beers!!! i have a bait tube also but that also creates too much drag for my lazy butt.....

you know that they make this special tape for your fingers. works great and dosn't make you look like a panzy.
save your fingers/thumbs before the damage is done

I would go with a bait tube also.
