Lowrance hook or elite ti

Trying to get a new ff this year and I'm torn between hook and ti.
My fishing is mostly done in the ocean but I see myself fishing for LMB more often than I did in 2016.
My understanding is ti has side view and hook doesn't. Is that the only difference? If so is it worth it to buy ti over hook for side view function?
My current ff is HDS gen2 (non touch)
Btw newer ff's touch screen was really nice and easy to navigate!
Thanks for your help in advance!

To get side scan on the Ti, you need the TotalScan transducer. This does not mount easily to kayak as it has to mount proud of the bottom to see sideways past the hull.

That being said, I run an elite 7 ti with the downscan (83/200, 455/800 kHz) transducer and I love it.

So the totalscan transducer may not work on my 2015 outback?
Thanks!

The totalscan can be made to work but it's not as convenient because it doesn't fit into the lowrance-ready slot. I too got an elite ti with a downscan transducer mounted in hull. Andy at OEX was really helpful in discussing transducer options

So then is there an advantage to getting an elite ti over hook? Without the Side scan, hook and ti basically the same? Confused
Thanks!

Hobie now has an adapter to use the total scan transducer, But that sucker is huge and I don't want to be dragging my kayak over anything that will damage it. Besides even the down scanning chirp I only find useful is shallow water (under 75 feet) or in fresh water and I don't fish lakes that often. Most of the time I'm fishing around LJ in waters from 75 to 600 feet. Using the 5 TI and now my 7 TI with the 83-200/455-800 down scan transducer I find the best detail using an overlay or just the 83 or 200hz settings. The best thing is the large screen and the touch screen controls. The upgraded mapping is just crazy if you use the 3d setting and drag the screen to display the bottom almost on it's side. Get the TI model.

Essentially they have the same functionality transducer-wise, but the user interface on the touch screen is TOTALLY the game changer. You can configure multi screen displays and navigate the chartplotter very easily, and its also much faster to adjust the sonar settings with the touch screen. Ti also has a bitchin WIFI router, through which I sync my iPhone to the device. That's how I get the hi-res screen shots. You can also down load bathymetric charts to the GPS through the cellular network using your phone.

Down side is that it does eat up your battery faster. I had to scale up to a 12aH 12v to run my 7Ti all day.

I gotta go to the shop and take a look again with both units side by side
Thanks for all your help!
Anybody using hobie or berley pro total scan lowrance ready cover on your outback?
