La Jolla - 7/9/16

Anyone up for some fishing outside La Jolla tomorrow? Conditions are not optimal, but it will be nice to head out and see what is biting. I plan on trying for a Yellowtail, then halibut if that does not pan out.

Kirk,

Same. 5am - blue outback. My only question is IF I can make myself get up early enough. I seriously need to get out there and catch something nice.

I don't think there was much action going on in La Jolla last Saturday. I was able to catch this 23lb YT. I broke away from the main group of kayakers and caught this guy north of the kelp beds.

And a thanks to kirkdavis for taking the picture for me. It was good to meet you out there.

Yeah, this was entirely due to luck, I have zero doubt. I had given up on YT for the day and started fishing for Halibut by the kelp. Caught a few Calico when the YT started ripping off line.

Tonight is going to be YT for dinner. I am looking forward to it.

Hopefully next weekend proves a good time to head out again. Unless something ugly crops up on the weather or surf, I will most likely head out again Saturday.

Meeting

Congratulations on the fish and nice meeting you on shore. I was the one in the Ivory/Dune Outback who talked to you a bit immediately after landing. I drug my Greenback way out to the birds at 250-feet for nada then my rudder line broke. Paddled in fine though.

Birds and bait boil...lot's of sheep but no wolves found:
