Thanks for reminding everyone why you should NOT target these things.

Saw a gaffed shark thrashing up against a kyak but not an attack. Mike

I'm surprised it calmed down just a few seconds after it was gaffed

They usually stay ballistic much longer than that

It was a good 45 minute battle after the gaff.

That sounds more like it! How did you finally dispatch her?

Caught a small Mako last summer and it immediately ran straight at my kayak. Got it boat-side, pulled the hook and released it. What a mouth full of teeth! Guaranteed you, if I caught one anywhere near the size of yours, I'd cut it off straight away. I've heard stories of them jumping 12 feet into the air to catch a bird. Absolutely psycho looking eyes too.

Isurus!

It's fight or flight at this point! Running low on options, the shark lunges toward its nearest perceived threat, not knowing that it's not the kayak it must fear!

Considering the epic Bluefin/Yellowfin/Yellowtail fishing going on right now within La Jolla Shores launch range .... gaffing a Mako is lame.

-I don't usually flame people about their catch, but you guys got a lot to learn about fishing La Jolla.
