Mile Square Park annual free kids fishing Derby 3/15

Had the opportunity to volunteer for the event and I'm glad I did. What a turn out! OC Parks, CDFW and Anglers Chronicles put together a great event for the kids and all the sponsors really stepped it up with the free raffles and prizes. Owner, Diawa, Bite On, and may more were out there, providing tackle for the kids and giving away rods, reels, clothes and more. Salt Water Bass Anglers had the weigh in booth and held the award ceremony The weather was great and the fish were big. The park was stocked with 1500# of trout for the event. Nice seeing kids reeling in a 5# bow. Can't wait to do this again.

free bait and tackle for the kids

Lots of prizes

CDFW out there rigging rods for the kids. They brought 250 loaner rods for kids that didn't have a setup.

Weigh in

always fun hanging with Sergio

what a great way to get the kids off the xbox

That is great. There should be more events like that for kids in many more communities. That really is so much better than video games. Thank for posting this William. Tight Lines

Good Job Will! Did you get to meet the "Romanator"? He was the kid working the registration table and then 'worked the crowd' at the lake helping the younger kids with their fishing tackle and showing them how to tie fishing knots that work.

Good job Will. Definitely good to see the kids outside, active, and fishing.

He's a great guy. Always ready to share, be it fishing knowledge, tackle or whatever. He's a real class act

I work a block from there so I sneak over to fish the south lake during lunch. They stock with trout pretty regularly

I fished that south lake about a month ago and a.couple.of dudes were killing it on power worm. They left with 2x limit then came back to poach some more.
