For those who fish charter boats occasionally

You might want to think twice, especially since this is the bulk of catch on the offshore boats in San Diego right now..

Better not be true or resolve this quickly because I got a 4 day on the red rooster next week. Can't believe they would do this. I hope it's not true or isn't in effect for a while.

Maybe a little payback for the treatment of migrants? Mexico is saying "Go Back Home!"

San Diego sportfishing just lost a lot of business. Let's just hope this El Niño brings in the dodos and YFT for a good duration

Thumbs down

Just called fishermans landing and the confirmed that bluefin is closed for the rest of the year. Goes into effect tonight. Can't believe they would do this in the middle of the bite. Sucks for my 4 day next week.

Does anyone know what the health of the BF population is like in the Pacific?
With efficiency and size of Commercial purse seiners and gill netters, I'd be surprised if they don't become an endangered species like in a few more years.
Anyone familiar with the show "Wicked Tuna" should be able to figure out that since the Atlantic and Mediterranean is being protected (e.g. Prince Edward is C&R ONLY!) The worlds fishing fleets had to go somewhere...any guesses where ???
The demand is outstripping the supply!!!
I haven't heard of any VW size BF on the outer banks or for years. Has anyone else?

Then on the other hand It could be because of the radiation levels of the fish from the Fukishima Nuclear spill and don't want any liability issues(?)

Posted on other boards. It only applies to commercial fishing and not sports boats... So for now the sports fleet are fine.

Or we can hope the fish move up this way...soon!

I don't know about highlighters but a portable airbrush may work. Just make sure you have enough paint!

If you read the bottom of the Sportfishing reports page it does mention that the catch of BF includes "Recreational" also. I'd be willing to bet there will be many PBer's getting tickets this weekend!!!
Now I'm REALLY praying for a powerful "El Niño"!
FFY

My understanding after reading many blogs/sites commercials fishing Mexican waters may have already met their 5,000 ton quotas, and to protect possible overfishing they have shut down all BF fishing for the year for everyone!

Take a deep breath and wait. This is not going to last for many reasons. Again deep breaths - count to 2 and exhale.

This is incorrect. Mexican letter states all bluefin fishing. I even verified with Seaforth landing. No Bluefin fishing, period.

I would not have posted if this did not include recreational fishermen. But unfortunately for us it does. Which really sucks for the guys with trips coming up. But I'm sure that they will get into some other species .
