I forgot my mirage drive............but

In the morning I wasn't plan to go fishing
I'm off today but my wife ask bunch of "honey do stuffs" so I didn't plan to fish
But 4:30AM I woke up and couldn't back to sleep
So I decided to go Irvine lake for several hour fishing
Kind of hurry to load everything and headed to Vine
As soon as I paid to the gate I realized I forgot my mirage drive
OMG like most of hobie owner knows hobie paddle is not good for long paddling

Anyway I'm here...so I start fishing 6:15am at boat dock cove (very close to my truck)
As soon as I throw mac to water ....double hook up
after that, left and right ....wide open
I put small one back to water and within 2hours I got 5 big cats total 40lb

I didn't bring big cooler so I put all fish inside my kayak but still have plenty of time to clean kayak and especially "HONEY DO STUFFS"

It was really nice day for short fishing time

Nuggets

My girls like catfish when filleted and cubed into small chicken nugget sized pieces, then pan fried in olive oil.

To coat catfish (and bluegill fillets) I use three bowls and coat in the following order after rinsing and patting dry:

Bowl 1: flour + pepper
Bowl 2: 2 beaten eggs with a dash of cold water
Bowl 3: Italian (or Panko) breadcrumbs with a bunch of seasoning (more pepper, garlic, garlic salt, and whatever you like)

Pan fry until golden. Put out bowls of your favorite dipping sauce out. Simple and they like it. I still don't care for the texture.

I also noticed the cleaner the water the better tasting the cats.

Nice fat cats! Why is it when your least prepare you tend to catch great fish. And when your over prepared with gears and gadget you don't do as well.

I've always like to deep fry them catfish crispy with the skin on and eat them with some mango salsa. Make sure to make the mango salsa with fish sauce and squeeze some lime. Or if you don't like fish sauce substitute salt and lime is just as good. A good balance of flavor is having the fish plain and crispy with salty/sour salsa or your fish season and the salsa sour.
