Battery question

I have been using the standard 12v 7amp battery for my cuda 168. Bought a lighter weight 12v 3.5 amp battery. Tried it out today lost signal when I was deeper than 70 feet. Worked fine in shallow water. Any ideas?

What are the power requirements on your Eagle Cuda 168 ??
How many watts--Peak to Peak ??

That 3.5 amp battery seems low, I don't think it will last very long.
I would stay with a 7.5 amp minimum upwards to a 12V 10 amp.

FWIW for comparison

I use a PiranaMax 215 Model that is rated 800 watts peak to peak.
-I run the FF on 8 AA rechargeable batteries and it works perfectly.
I can use it several days of fishing before I need a recharge.

12 volts is 12 volts, should not be the battery that is creating the problem. That 3.5 should run the 168 for as long as 12-15 hours.

If those are 2200 mAh double A's you are using about a 1.75 Amp Set up that is only 9.6 volts, most F/F run on 8 volts minimum.
