Mission Bay 5/24

Launched from mariners basin. Day started slow, caught a small SBB in the basin, paddled over to the bait barge and dragged live bait back and forth for about 3 hours and only caught a little sand bass and a sculpin. Then, I caught the biggest Halibut I have ever caught. Not sure how long it was, because before I could get the tape out, I had an 18 inch halibut on my other pole that distracted me long enough for the original hali to flip out of my lap, along with my game clip. Oh, well. Live and learn. I caught another halibut later on that was 19 inches. The highlight of my trip, though, was when I had a huge halibut follow my 4 inch swimbait all the way to the edge of my kayak. I probably could have grabbed him, if I didn't think he was going to bite my swimbait. He was probably pushing 35 inches, by my calibrated eyes. I really couldn't believe how big he was.
Also, watch out for idiots this weekend, I almost got ran over by some guy who was driving his boat back and forth through the bay. There was lots of traffic out there today and the weekend hasn't even started yet.

I was out as well. Ditched the trap hook hoping for some henlike inhaling. Got some big rakers but only had a couple hours to fish.

I will be dreaming, haha! I had a couple get raked pretty hard and ended up throwing a treble hook on for the trap. I would rather pull up a lizard fish than half of an anchovy. I still can't believe how big that dude was.

That was me and fisher4life and it was rough, windy, choppy, and large swells. We peddled out with the incoming tide and came in with the outgoing tide. Kurt caught quite a few Calicos and I caught my usual 1 just like last Friday, but it was the largest bass I've ever caught so it was worth it.
