NBH 9/25...........4 B's

4 B's you say?

Barracuda, bonito, bass and................BUTTS. Small ones though.

Took my kid out on the bay for about 5 hours. Got dines at the barge. Great bait. All you wanted calico mixed with a lot of legals. Some big spotties. And a good pick on some close to legal butts.

The 18-25" butts are pretty line shy for the most part. They wouldn't have the #15. I scaled it to #8 and it was bit on every bait.

My kid is 2.5 yrs old. He was dragging a dine and then looked at me like, "WTF." I told him to turn the handle and he did like 4 times until he just started jerking the rod tip around saying, "I got a fish!" over and over. I brought it to the boat and it was about a 19-20" halibut. The fish was pretty fired up when we got it to the boat or I would have taken a pic of him with it.

I'd say he is about 3-4 months out from him being able to bring a decent fish to the boat by himself.

I had a legal flop around inside the PA with my kid a few weeks ago and he got freaked out, so I wanted to keep him stoked and not traumatize him.

Anyway, good bite today in NBH. No current, little to no wind until the last hour for the wind. Fished from like 10'ish to 4'ish. Water temp perked up a bit from a couple weeks ago. Was pretty warm.

Good luck

Saw you guys loading up in the parking lot (had the lime green Prowler). I got a migraine on the water so wasn't feeling too talkative but it sounds like your day was better than mine. Landed 4 calico and had something big pinned for a few minutes but it shook the hook. Your kid seemed stoked to be there!

Sorry you had to vacate under those circumstances. Hopefully you're back out soon and scoring. Maybe try sumatriptan (Imitrex)? If you don't already. Get really well hydrated before fishing sunny days and wear dark smoke color sunglasses.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm willing to bet it was due to dehydration. I usually carry a 64oz. hydroflask full of water and have it finished in a few hours but I forgot it that day. Glad you're showing your kid the ropes, I can't get my younger brothers to go fishing for the life of me. He'll be ready for his own kayak in a few years. Tight lines

Congrats on being able to keep your boy on the water for 5 hrs.

I need to figure that out myself with my 5 and 3 yr old kids.
