La Jolla 12-13

Launched this morning about 7:30 after watching the sets for a good 30min.
Made though the surf pretty good. It was a little choppy but not to bad.
I had to be home by 1pm so decided to play in the kelp just past the preserve. Managed 4 Calicos. Couple small Barracudas. Also got on top of a school of rat . Could not get them to play, but was cool seeing 2-3 chasing my lure.

Hey Batfish, it was nice to meet you. I was the other guy who stood with you for 30 minutes trying to decide if the wind would calm a bit.

I did manage to hook up on something nice (assuming a nice yellow) but he freed himself with the help of a lobster pot after about 5 minutes of fighting.

SmokinBass, I did manage to make bait fairly easily for the first time in a while. Wasn't the preferred choice as it was all Spanish, but they did the job (if only I could have done the same!). Loaded the tank in about 20 minutes......

It's amazing , once the temperature came down a little how the bait became more willing to bite . Coincidence ?
