Eastern Sierras

It's been pretty windy on the lakes... and the streams have had some new restrictions...so I spent the day hiking and scouting Rush Creek today...possible snow tonight and tomorrow but next week looks beautiful...

Guess they don't want people harassing the browns in there.

Spawn

Rumor is that it was a late spawn so DFW closed Rush Creek...

The only time I've seen one that big was one my Aunt had in a fish tank. Awesome!

Wish I was there, but it is looking like it will be September before I can get away this year. Enjoy your trip. Looking forward to seeing more beautiful photos!

Weather

To paraphrase Mark Twain...if you don't like the weather in California...just wait a few minutes...
It was a Beautiful day...and the wind let up early so I finally took the advantage to do a lap of Silver Lake in the Hobie PA 360...first two fish were about 2 and 3 pounds...both fish were caught on the 1/32 Hookup Baits with some of their crawfish sauce in the tubes...
Can't wait to hit it tomorrow morning...

almost over...

So Sad...only one day left...I'll be driving down 395 on Monday...

Fishing has been slow for a lot of folks since DFW isn't stocking as usual...
I've been pretty lucky to connect on 1 or 2 quality fish each day...
The 1/32 Black Gold and Yellow White Hook Up Baits have been killing it...my fly fishing buddy has been doing well on the brown Wooley Bugger and weighted line...
Rush Creek opened today and I only got slow fishing reports...

Crawdads...

The Crawdad crawl was good...not great but Good...we had plenty for a big boil with 6 traps on a two night soak with bacon, chicken, and cat food...

I'll be at Silver Lake the two nights before I go home . Hope to have a good haul for a boil when I get home.

That one crayfish looked like it was 9 inches long, just scaling it from the 12 inch diameter trap.
