Look what I found!

Saw a couple of these guys cruising below me. Threw a Kroc a couple of times and
got a taker on the third cast. Tried again for another, but no such luck.
Weighed in at 30lbs 2oz. on the digi.

Also found some decent bonito and couldn't get away from them.

This guy was the smallest and weighed 8lbs 10oz...ended up catching around 20 bonito,
several barracuda, a calico, a rockfish and a couple of sandies...

Fun day!

Congrats on that! You got your LJ WSB, the skunk is totally off now. Good to see they are still around, wish I could get out there to find one.

Someone told me to look at the photo closer. Looks like your LJ WSB skunk is still holding. Wish I could get down there to compete in the Baja Coast Whoppers sub-division. Nice WSB!

I prefer not to talk about my LJ WSB skunk...

I thought you had a trip planned, Dave?

I was going to go last week but work and family changed my plans. My 16yr old said to me "since you started kayak fishing you never surf with me anymore" and I realized he will be off to college in 2 years and I better exploit every opportunity to spend time with him. But there is hope, my 11yr old likes to kayak fish more than surf.

Congrats again, nice fish!

Dave,
There are some great surf spots in SQ, as well. You guys can fish and surf!

I almost brought kayaks on my last surf trip but I prefer to keep it simple. If it was just the kayak that might be ok but to bring all the gear and tackle and keep an eye on it while I'm out surfing or having fun in the 4x4 is too much hassle. It really is heaven when you've driven miles on dusty roads and checked breaks that are not working and then you find the perfect wave that hardly ever breaks except the conditions are just right on that day. Almost as good as catching a 30lb WSB!
