Biggest keeper ever, and on my yak!

After catching a keeper ling and sand bass, I hooked this sevengill shark. He tangled my line and snagged my Sabiki rig with all of his thrashing about. Took about 30 minutes after bleeding to make sure I didn’t get bit before I hauled him aboard. 5 feet 3 inches and 35 pounds!


He must be 21 because I found a can of Budweiser in his stomach!
Fishing outside of mission bay. Came in earlier than planned so I fought the tide coming thru the bay. Wonderful day on the water!

I haven’t tried it yet but I read that it’s considered one of the best eating sharks. I’ll find out soon. It might taste like beer.

I read it on the internet....it must be true;-)
But, is there a reason you think it might not be? I caught and ate a dogfish shark couple of months ago and it was good but the meat was kinda soft before cooking. This sevengill is nice firm meat.

We have an abundance of them locally and have you ever seen them at the fish market? They piss through their skin so unless you're a seasoned shark eater, there are a lot of steps you'll have to go through to make it palatable.
