Wassup?

I seem to have stopped getting emails for about a week. Any emails I missed?

As far as I know, are as follows.

1 big bag to be checked in.

1 small bag (can I bring my crate and fill it with stuff as carry on?)

1 kayak which should be stackable (Or can I roll it on the ferry semi-rigged?)

Is it ok that I have carry on luggage and still carry my kayak cart with me on the ferry?

Did any cooking cells get organized? I'm with Don, but me thinks we could do better than just 2 in our group.

Can't wait for next friday.

Or fully rigged with no rods? What exactly is stackable for a kayak? FF and GPS removed? Seat? Crate mate? I am a little confused as well. I would really like things to move smoothly once we arrive, so any experience or information might help.

Andy, what's the sit-rep on the coolers?

Thanks in advance for supporting us ignorant ones!

I have e mailed them twice asking about coolers and surprisingly not got a reply. all my other e mails were quick turn arounds via Blackberry. I'll try that phone thingy today

We have 30 kayaks to put on the stern, stackable is good. The ones that don't stack well will be on top. The 10 day forecast has removed showers from the weekend and 70 degrees

# of bags and or crates or stuff to carry on:

1. ice chest and food

2.tent, sleeping bag and pad, lantern
clothes, cooking utensils

3. gear crate with tons of crap.

4. bait tank

5. rods and reels, paddle, pedals

How 's it all gonna fit?

I think we get to check 2 pieces under 70lbs plus a carry on inaddition to our yaks that have a fare of there own of $45 don't we? as per the website....

*One-way fare is 1/2 of Round Trip.
*Additional Luggage - If you know you have additional luggage beyond two pieces weighing no more than 70 pounds each and a small carry-on, YOU MUST LET THE OFFICE KNOW WHEN BOOKING OR PICKING UP YOUR TICKETS. If you do not report additional luggage, such as extensive camping gear, multiple ice chest, etc., you will be directed back to the office for an excess luggage ticket. THIS MAY CAUSE YOU TO MISS THE SAILING TIME. It is your responsibility to report excess luggage to our staff.

Optimism is good, but what 10-day? The models I see (GFS, ECMWF) are still battling with the pattern change.

Front today, front Wed and front next w/e is what I'm seeing. It could be pushing back to Sun-Mon, which is better. But the winds in the bight between fronts will bear watching.

Thinking positive.

I live in the area. For those in search of breakfast, there is a Denny's at 1560 Lincoln Blvd. About 3 miles north from MDR. Norms' is across the street, in Santa Monica. Closer to MDR is Cafe 50's Diner. About 1 mile North. They have good coffee and breakfast offerings.

Ruts Cafe serves a heavy Hawaiin rice breakfast on Washington Blvd. 2 miles east of MDR.

Getting to MDR

Many ways to get to MDR. Via I-10 then Lincoln to MDR. Venice and Washingon Blvd. going west has very little traffic in the morning if your coming from down town or places east. You can take both down to Lincoln which lands almost right at MDR. For people coming from the south via the 405 (from the 105, 110, 710), the 90 freeway is almost a direct hit to MDR.

Lincoln Blvd. near Loyola Marymount is under construction. Very bad area to pass thru if your are coming from the south (Palos Verdes, South Bay etc) past LAX on your way to MDR. Really bad.

Hope that helps.
