Great report and better catch! Glad your off the patch and overcome sea sickness as it makes being out that much better. Did the same thing but on a boat and never looked back. And again great report !

Thanks Mike it was good to fish with you and pick your brain. Thank you for telling me I was on top of a bait ball.

Momo Yes I think since I usually only go out on smaller swell days so I will try to stay weaned. I am signed up for an overnight tuna trip later this summer so I think I will use one or a half for that trip.

Janie .. it will come, just put time on the water fly lining a greenback.

What's a good lb test mono leader to use flylinning a mackerel?

The standard for fly lining on the outside of the kelp, seems to be 65 lb dark green braid to a leader of 40 lb fluorocarbon as there is a layer a submersed kelp that the fish love to run into. This allows you to sometimes saw thru the kelp strands with patience.
