kayak vacation ideas?

With today being such a nice day I started thinking it would be nice to be on a mini vacation in san felipe with my yak. Any ideas for a mini vacation next spring in mex (within driving distance)? I like san felipe alot but want to try somewhere new maybe off the beaten path? Whats ur favorite mexico beach locations? Camping, hotels or house rentals. What are approx prices if u know em?

In my mind, all of Baja is within driving distance

If it were me - I'd be more inclined to point the truck towards San Q. Catch the spring run on halibut in the bay, and fish the point for

If you're heading down the cortez side, pass SF and try Gonzaga Bay. Its not too far passed SF but is much different fishing wise and geographicly. Thats where the paved road ends too. Between SF and Gonzaga there are many accessable beaches, coves, and headlands in view of the highway. Depending on season this stretch of the coast can have stellar corvina fishing. On the pacific side, like baja-travler said, give the area around SQ a shot. After that there are too many spots to kayak fish. Thats a huge advantge of a kayak; you don't even need a "spot". Any place you can get to the water is a spot. Look at googlemaps satelite images of the baja coast. Every time I do that I see so many spots that want to fish. Exploring is at the heart of baja trips. Post a report. Mike
