Butt kicked in the surf today

Got my ass totally kicked in the surf today. Felt like La Jolla waves we're on the shooting range practicing a failure drill - Two big waves to the chest and one to the head for good measures.

Adam, did you find your Mirage Drive?

Yea, me too, I was overdue! I went in the drink on the landing, good thing my gear was stored in the rod pod.

Surf looks way smaller right now. Launching in the dark was dicey this morning and the landing around noon was ok between sets but those sets were huge and stacked up.

The surf keep pounding one wave after another, not much of a lull in am. Waited for the set to go through and hauled ass, quickley approaching the "black wall", thankfully enough speed to go over"Thankyou Lord". Lots of quality fish taken today. I was rewarded this YT for my efforts today. Landing was very "iffy"! Big sets coming through. No worries for me this time!

when I landed last time it was pitch black and about 9pm.A huge wave broke over the back of the kayak and propelled me towards the sand at breakneck speed.I chant to myself "OPPOSITE,OPPOSITE,OPPOSITE"as in dip that paddle opposit of the direction the bow is going to straighten yourself out. Also helps to have weight in the back.leave the water in your BT.

My chant usually goes something like this - faster damn it, faster - ah Phook Me, son of a bitch - Hope rental crowd didn't see me!
