Noob kayaker looking for info

Hows it going everyone? Great site. Im looking to start ocean kayaking i hear it's lots of fun. Well i am looking for a kayaking setup that not only is good is also reliable. I was thinking of getting a perception caster 12.5 kayak w/ some sort of fish finder. If someone can help me out to finding a good setup please post. Thanks

i have a Cobra fish n dive and I like it. Its really slow but very stable. I got turned sideways in the surf saturday and it just pushed me towards the sand, but the guy in the malibu behind me flipped. Don't get me wrong, malibu and ocean kayaks are good, just not as stable as a fish n dive. Look around on other kayak fishing sites like:

these sites and this one all have for sale/classifieds, check em out.
Usually you can find a deal on a used one. No reason to get a new one (in my opinion) until you know what qualities you want and what qualities you don't mind being sacraficed (stability, speed, comfort, single or a tandem, rod holders, are there custom bait tanks available?, etc)
good luck

Biggest thing I would suggest... Test paddle different ones. Don't get stuck with a kayak you don't like, and might not be able to sell. I mean that with all kayaks.. Are you local? Go to the shops, see if you could rent/borrow one and take it to the surf. Paddling the bay, and paddling the ocean are different (surf landings/launchings, wind chop, etc..). I had an X-Factor. It was a great fishing platform, as well as in the surf (rolled it a couple of times, but mostly got pushed sideways). I went from a 33" to a 28" wide yak. It doesn't surf the same a my X, but I could make it out a lot quicker and "run and gun" to bird piles/boils  ... Hope this helps.
