Getting out though the surf is not bad, Watch the waves to figure out the timing and interval between waves, so as to time your self to limit the size and number of waves to cross. Really important never let the kayak get sides ways always go straight at the waves and keep paddling. In a short time your past the breakers. Here is a link to a video that Jim Sammons put on his site. A lot of kayakers have used it to shorten the learning curve of landing through the surf. Pay attention to the paddle in the wave and lean into the wave. Good luck, it would be best to practice without fishing gear first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPL1...97C158F9E036ED
