2019 Mission Bay Classic

Mark yer calendars! and make note of the slight move of venue to Bahia Point in Mission Bay.

The Mission Bay Kayak Fishing Classic has become the biggest kayak fishing tournament in Southern California continually drawing well over 100 anglers annually showing up to fish and show their support for Heroes on the Water. ALL of the tournament proceeds go directly to our local chapter of HOW. Last year we surpassed our expectations in our fundraising, through entry and raffle ticket sales. All while bringing awareness to the community! We are hoping for a bigger crowd and greater results for our Southern California chapter of Heroes on the Water. Come be a part of this fun filled day with a sense of great purpose and camaraderie.

Mark your calendars for April 13th 2019, Cost is $25.
*New location this year *Bahia Point, Mission Bay *Kids under the age of 18 fish for free with a paid adult.*

Boundaries will be anywhere, but weigh boats will only be inside the harbor Bass division will be required check in and launch from the east facing beach adjacent to the ball field on Santa Clara Point, shotgun start 7am. Halibut fishermen have the option to sign in online and launch any time after 4 am from Santa Clara Point.
Prize payouts for the top finishers, all proceeds are going to Heroes on the Water!
Biggest 3 bass string wins with trophies and prizes for the top 3 finishers in the bass division
Biggest halibut will receive a trophy and prize
Tournament hours: 7am-1pm, check in starts at 6 am. You must be in line to weigh your fish no later than 1 pm. Weigh boats will be on the water with final weigh in on the beach.

After the tournament we will all meet for a great BBQ & awards. Lunch served from noon until 2 pm
Back again this year is the halibut division. Very simply, the biggest halibut weighed in wins. This is a separate division that you will specify upon check in or online prior. In this division you may use live and cut bait and fish more than 1 rod at a time. Live bait can be brought, bought or caught. Fish must be hooked, fought and landed from the kayak unassisted. Final weigh in is 1 pm and you must be in line at the scale no later than 1 pm. There are no boundaries, you may fish wherever you like.

Nice, this new launch location should save us a mile or so of paddling/pedaling. Is there a hill/hump to pull up over when retrieving from the water like the old beach launch?

Can we park with trailers or will I need to start working out to put my PA on top of the SUV?

Not too sure about trailer parking. Maybe somebody who frequents this spot can chime in. I will look at google maps.

Does not look like trailer parking will be an option on the point.
