So were you trolling that past the kelp bed? Can't troll through them in most areas as there is not enough clearing. Along the kelp beds or out and away? Love that you nailed that guy after the tough launches there.

That's awesome. I've been fishing there for five years and have never seen anything like that. Usually just blues and grassies for me, although the calico bite has been hot lately. Let me know if you guys plan on going out, It'd be great to get some fresh ideas.

I'll probably be out this weekend. A friend is supposed to be giving me some bounce ball rigs, so I want to try those out. Saw a motor boat pulling halis up 3-4 weeks ago.

Looks like the surf report is showing 3-5 ft waves this weekend, might want to try them out of the harbor as that can get rough at Leo. A guy at my work said he was pulling legal hali's right off the kiddy beach in the harbor. I have been basically ignoring my fish finder but have been watching a lot of videos lately on it. Need to start using it more and may hit the harbor this weekend.

yeah, well channel islands. I usually hit the break wall first then go into the harbor. But again this time I will be paying attention to the sonar before hitting a spot. Used it as a toy, now to use it as a tool. I also have a new battery for the trolling motor to test. Probably on Saturday, usually there at 7 or so at the kayak launch by the kiddy beach. Wish they would improve that ramp, and make a place so I can park on the dirt. Lowered my Cayenne and cant make it up the curb. Makes for a longer haul with the yak.
